Cambridge IGCSE History contextualises the most important factors of recent history and introduces students to the people, places and events that shape the world we live in today. The emphasis within the syllabus is as much on developing lifelong historical skills as on acquiring knowledge.
Successful candidates gain an interest in and enthusiasm for learning and understanding the past, coupled with an understanding of historical concepts such as cause and consequence, continuity and change, similarity and difference. As further citizens of the world, students need a greater understanding of international issues and inter-relationships; we build a better future by understanding the past. On a more general level, there is a focus on building and presenting clear, logical arguments, defending opinions and rational, open debate.
