Are you wondering whether SCL International College is the right fit for you? Well, you've landed in the right spot to find out!

In this blog post, we'll dive deep into answering that burning question and guide you through our exciting programmes. We understand that selecting the right educational institution which fits your needs is a significant decision, and we're here to make the process much smoother for you. So, let's get started!

First, a quick list of study programmes you won’t find with us

Although we carry the title of a college, it's important to note that there are a few programmes we do not offer. These include:

  • courses that focus on practical skills and industry-specific training;
  • GCSE and A levels;
  • distance learning programmes;
  • courses designed for mature students or those without traditional qualifications, and
  • part-time study options.

Although this is not an exhaustive list, we believe it provides a quick overview of who we are and what we do.

Who will benefit most from this blog post?

  • Parents of young pupils aged 12-17 looking for an incredible English language-learning experience for their children.
  • International learners seeking a residential school in London with access to a lively student community (we do not provide homestay accommodation; check our campus overview).
  • Young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 with a passion for learning English in the UK capital. While our student community generally falls within the 16 to 25 age range, we embrace diversity and welcome students from all walks of life.
  • Ambitious students dreaming of studying at a UK university (we provide University Pathway Programmes, designed for international students who wish to progress onto a higher education programme in the UK).
  • Agents and faculty who are looking to travel to our London campuses with a group of pupils can explore our tailored programmes for groups here.

At SCL, we're all about creating a unique learning community. We believe in nurturing friendships and cultural exchange, and we genuinely enjoy students' laughter that echoes through our London campuses all year round. But to make things organised, we've decided to sort this next section by season. This way, we can concentrate on all the crucial details you need about our English language programmes.

Summer: Time to soak up the sun and immerse in British culture

London in the summer is an absolute delight, offering a myriad of reasons to visit. London bursts with life as festivals, outdoor events, and street performances fill the city. Students can bask in the beauty of parks and gardens like Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, and with longer daylight hours, they'll have plenty of time to explore iconic landmarks like the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and more. You can take advantage of this warm season and join students of all nationalities in our English language programmes.

Our Discover London Programme combines English language learning with exciting cultural activities, giving students the chance to explore the city of London while enhancing their language skills (Suitable for ages 12-17).

Our Young Leaders Programme offers the unique opportunity to study a chosen subject at the undergraduate level. Led by experienced teachers, students will participate in a variety of engaging activities, including interactive workshops, academic excursions, and practical study skills sessions (Suitable for ages 16-17).

Our Intensive IELTS programme provides a great opportunity for teenage learners and young professionals who are preparing for the IELTS exam. By participating in our summer IELTS programmes, these students can connect with other like-minded individuals of their age, creating a supportive and motivating environment. This allows them to not only improve their English skills but also gain confidence and build lasting friendships with peers who share similar goals (Suitable from age 16+).

Winter: The magical season of language and festivities

Winter in London may be chilly, but it is no less charming than summer. With the festive season in full swing, the city comes alive with Christmas markets, ice skating rinks, and dazzling light displays. Students can cosy up with a warm drink at one of London's many cafes or explore the city's renowned museums and galleries.

General English Programmes: We usually welcome students to our General English courses during the winter season, which provides a solid foundation for language proficiency. In the afternoons, we encourage students to join Gen, our student services coordinator who’s a true Londoner and loves showing our English learners around the capital (walking tours are available all year round). Not only does she know all the cool spots, but she also helps our students learn more about British culture (Suitable from age 16+).

IELTS Express Programmes: For young adult students or busy working professionals seeking expedited exam results, we have an excellent opportunity tailored to their needs. Our four-week IELTS Fast Track programme is designed to provide a streamlined and efficient preparation process, getting our learners fully ready for the IELTS exam.

  • Note: This programme begins on the first Monday of each month, offering a structured and focused study plan. Our aim is to help our students make the most of their limited time and achieve their desired IELTS results swiftly (Suitable from age 16+).

Our commitment to providing exceptional education and experiences extends beyond the summer and winter seasons. Professionals seeking to enhance their English language skills and expand their knowledge visit us throughout the year. In the next section, we’ll focus on programmes in spring and autumn.

Study programmes available in spring and autumn

English Language Courses in London

The UK capital thrives throughout the year, and spring and autumn are no exception. In spring, the city comes alive with colourful flowers and blooming gardens, while autumn is a time of beautiful foliage and crisp, fresh air. During these seasons, we usually welcome students to our General English Programmes, Fast Track IELTS Preparation Programmes, and Academic English Programmes.

While some of our programmes are offered exclusively in the summer, and certain programmes are flexible and more popular in the winter, in spring or autumn we encourage prospective students to search our website or reach out to our dedicated teams to find out when is the best time to join us. We are here to answer any questions and provide information about programmes that may not be mentioned in this post. Everyone’s educational journey is unique, and we are committed to ensuring our prospective students have the best possible experience at SCL.

Pre-University and Postgraduate Pathways to University Entry

Suitable for ages 17 and up, our higher education programmes are designed to provide comprehensive academic modules, study skills, and personalised one-to-one tutorials. Please visit each web page shown below or contact our friendly admissions team for more information.

Tip! Most of our Higher Education courses start in either September or January, and some are offered year-round such as our Pre-Sessionals.

Exploring the advantages of SCL's residential life

Our residential school experience offers a level of convenience that goes beyond the classroom. By providing on-campus accommodation (in several London locations), we eliminate the hassle of finding suitable housing in a new city.

Our students have everything they need right at their doorstep, from comfortable living spaces to study spots, dining areas and more.

We understand that every student has different preferences and circumstances. That's why we offer flexible options, including a tuition-only choice for those who prefer to live outside the campus. This way, students can still benefit from our high-quality education while having the freedom to choose their own accommodation.

The Residential Advantage:

  • One of the key advantages of the residential school experience is the strong sense of community and inclusivity fostered on campus. Students from various backgrounds and nationalities come together, watch movies, share delicious pizza or simply chat together.
  • Living on campus also offers financial convenience. Our all-inclusive fees cover accommodation, meals, and access to facilities, providing students with a clear understanding of their expenses and simplifying their budgeting process. This allows students to focus on their studies and personal growth without worrying about hidden costs.
