WHAT ACTUALLY IS A FOUNDATION PROGRAMME?

Often recognised as a bridge between high school and university, a university foundation programme (UFP) is a course designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to allow them to succeed at a British university. Courses last for one academic year and are a great option for international students looking to continue their academic journey in the UK, as they are regarded as equivalent to A levels. At Stay Campus London, we offer foundation programmes in Business Management, Engineering, Medicine, Art & Design, and Social Sciences.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR BUSINESS UFP

Throughout the duration of the Business Management Foundation Programme you will have the opportunity to work on preparing for university life in the UK, whilst also learning key concepts about business, accounting, economics, and management. Focus will be applied to the theories that you study in order to help you to understand which business areas interest you for your future career.

University Preparation Classes

To succeed in the world of business management, an understanding of the core subjects of business studies, accounting, and economics is key, and our Business Management Foundation Programme encourages international students to develop their knowledge of these subject areas through studying and applying business theories and concepts. Alongside these business modules, students will also have the chance to work on their study skills and academic English through classes that have been created to ensure that students are well prepared to undertake a university degree in the UK. Focus areas for academic English and study skills modules include essay writing, research skills, and referencing.

UK University Application Help

As part of the Foundation Programme, our academic team will assist foreign students through their university application via UCAS and offer personalised advice about all aspects of the UK university application process. You will begin by working on your personal statement, which is one of the most vital aspects of the university application process, and then progress through the course to the final stage of securing offers from universities. If you are not sure which universities to apply to yet, we have a range of great resources on hand to help you to make the best educational decision for you.

Campus Life in London

Whilst studying here at Stay Campus London, students also have the unique opportunity to live on campus to study, live, and socialise all under the same roof. Learning is not limited to the classroom, and campus living allows students to be a part of a community of international students in the heart of London whilst living just a stone’s throw away from historic pubs, shops, restaurants, supermarkets, and parks. Our campuses are made up of great common areas too, giving students the chance to choose to study in one of our classrooms, work out in the gym, or relax and watch a movie in the cinema after their lessons.

Getting into to a UK University

On successful completion of your Business Management foundation course, you will advance directly to one of eleven of our partnered universities, or you can choose to apply to any other UK university of your choice. Our progression routes are delivered in collaboration with the International Foundation Group, and we offer guaranteed access to London universities such as Kingston University London or the University of East London. For students that would like to experience life in another part of the UK after their Foundation Course in London, we also offer progression routes to many universities outside of the capital, including Swansea University, the University of Leeds and the University of Birmingham.

WHAT CAN YOU DO AFTER UNI?

One of the main objectives of our Business Management course is to help international students move onto business related degree programmes at UK universities, and on completion of a business university degree in the UK, there are many career options available.

Business Jobs for Recent Graduates

An education in Business Management acts as a doorway to a career in the business sector, and the flexibility of a Business Management degree allows students to find which areas of business they would like to pursue as a career. With modules in a wide range of subjects such as marketing, event management and finance, students can leave university having found an area of business that they would like to pursue. Whilst at university, career advisors are on hand to support students with their future goals, and regular careers fairs offer students the chance to meet representatives from businesses all over the world.

Graduate Training Schemes in the UK

London is a hub for international business, and London-based businesses offer Graduate Training Schemes for students that have graduated from university. These schemes consist of up to three years of rotational placements in different business areas, and on completion of the schemes, graduates will have gained vital knowledge into the full workings of a business. For students looking to pursue a professional qualification, such as the ACA, some schemes offer training and exams as part of their scheme structure. Examples of companies with reputable graduate schemes include KPMG, Lidl, Barclays, and Unilever, and specialisms include HR, Procurement, Management and Finance.

Further Studies - Master's and Postgraduate Degrees

Finished your undergraduate degree, but do not feel like you have finished studying? After achieving a Business Management degree, you will be able to specialise in your field by undertaking a Master’s degree in subjects ranging from marketing to accounting. Master’s degrees are usually one year in length, and allow students to choose a more specific subject area to work on within the wide field of Business Management. You might also choose to advance to an MBA programme in the UK or anywhere else in the world!

Setting Up Your Own Business

From the experience gained during your Foundation Programme in Business Management at Stay Campus London, and through your chosen UK university course, you will be building on your knowledge of how businesses operate and thrive.  For some students, the next steps include creating their own business using the knowledge that they have gained from their education. Most business based university courses offer modules in entrepreneurship to allow you to make vital contacts for the future and understand how to think and work like an entrepreneur.

Non-Business Roles

From heath to construction to finance, many industries require the transferable skills gained through a Business Management degree, so Business Management is a great option for students who are not quite sure what they would like to do in future. From problem solving and analytical skills to teamwork and leadership skills, you will be able to apply these competencies to a range of professions in a variety of industries.
