SCL International College's Pre-Master's in Business Management programme is a two-term course designed for international students to progress onto full master's courses in the UK.
Unit 1: Leadership in a Changing World
(20 credits)
The aim of this module is to develop your critical thinking, problem solving and leadership skills. You will be introduced to techniques used to evaluate leadership-related concepts in order to learn how to analyse your own leadership style, potential and capabilities. You will also put these into practice by communicating to different audiences using a wide range of media.
Unit 2: Introduction to Contemporary Business Strategy: Sustainable Business Growth
(20 credits)
This module introduces you to the theoretical underpinnings of business sustainability. You will be guided through how to analyse initiatives to drive sustainable business growth on an international basis. You will be expected to suggest solutions for responsible management and how businesses might respond to sustainability issues that have an impact on individuals and organisations.
Unit 3: Finance for Strategic Decision Makers
(20 credits)
The module develops your ability to evaluate financial information and other data necessary for making informed management decisions. You will learn how to apply and evaluate a range of accounting and data analysis techniques, as well as understand the workings of financial markets. You will be expected to understand and use Excel spreadsheets and recognise good spreadsheet practice in a business context.
Unit 4: Leadership and Management in Multicultural Contexts
(20 credits)
The aim of this module is to introduce you to different cultural and institutional differences alongside their implications for leadership and management. You will also be taught how to evaluate the challenges of working in different national and regional contexts and learn how to have a critical understanding of your own management and leadership practices.
Unit 5: Creating Futures: Sustainable Enterprise and Innovation
(20 credits)
This module introduces you to a wide range of strategies, processes and operations of business enterprises. You will evaluate the impact of innovation and entrepreneurship on society at a conceptual and a practical level. You will be expected to be able to analyse the responsibilities of founders, managers, employees, and directors within different types of sustainable and innovative businesses.
Unit 6: Sustainable Risk Management
(20 credits)
Sustainable Risk Management introduces you to the holistic nature of risk management and strategic decision-making in organisations with sustainability and ethical objectives. You will be expected to be able to evaluate the use of quantitative and qualitative techniques to manage risk in a business context.

Students who enrol on our Pre-Master's Programme are expected to have completed an undergraduate degree at a university either in your home country or abroad.
